Issai Beautyberry Callicarpa dichotoma 'Issai' The arching branches give Japanese Beautyberry an attractive rounded compact habit; the emerald green foliage emerges mid spring and is narrow, reaching up to four inches in length. Light pink flowers in the spring are shortly followed by green berries that turn an attractive lavender-purple in the late summer. The berries are quite numerous, and pull the branches closer to the ground. Compared to the American Beautyberry (Callicarpa americana), Japanese Beautyberry has a more compact and uniform shape, making it a more manageable ornamental plant for any landscape.
