Product Description
CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS: Due to CA agriculture restrictions, your plants will ship bare-rooted, wrapped in moist sphagnum moss.
Artocarpus heterophyllus
Bears massive fruits from the trunk and lower branches. The flowers and fruits develop directly from the trunk. Native to the Indo-Malaysian region, this tree is grown throughout the tropics for its pulpy, edible fruit. Jackfruit and its close relative, breadfruit (A. altilis), belong to the diverse mulberry family. Since individual jackfruits are composed of many ripened ovaries from many densely-packed female flowers, they are technically referred to as multiple fruits. The flesh of jackfruits is eaten raw or preserved in syrup, and the seeds are eaten after boiling or roasting.
Our seed grown Jackfruit are rapid growing and are currently growing in 2.5 inch pots and are 10-12 inches tall. Be prepared to transplant into larger pot soon after arrival. Refer to our Web Page Growing Guide for easy care information on this plant that produces the largest fruit in the world.
